Fields of Purple

As I am first and foremost a photographer, I don’t usually leave my spot hidden behind the lens. However, when I found this stunning countryside location last week, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get some kind of outfit shot!

A couple of weekends ago, I was visiting my grandparents, who live in Derbyshire by the Peak District. If you haven’t already, make sure you plan a road trip weekend there – the landscape is unreal, even better than how it appears in films. One afternoon, we took a walk up one of the highest hills in the area, only to be met with fields and fields of wild purple heather! Knowing that this beautiful blossom only comes out at the end of the summer for a few weeks, I put my fashion hat on and planned an outfit to shoot there the next day.

Thanks to the help of my dear mum, who knows a thing or two about photography herself, and our gorgeous family dog, Tilly, we managed to capture some wonderful shots up on the hill-tops. Typically, I had envisaged a calm, clear-skied day (I need to be more realistic with English weather!!) and while we had blue skies, we had A LOT of wind…!! So, apologies in advance for my wild hair and billowing skirt…I suppose it adds to the countryside look :p

In terms of my outfit, I had to shoot this gorgeous skirt I picked up recently in Notting Hill. The shops you find on the way from Notting Hill station to Portobello Road are amazing. They have the cutest dresses, tops and skirt prints! I paired it with a simple shirt from H&M and my favourite coral court shoes from Kate Spade – a bright little floral look to end the summer on a high!
