September Light

Last weekend, and the past couple of days, we have been blessed with the most beautiful September sunshine in London. It is easy to say that London is one of the most beautiful cities in the sunshine… just a shame we don’t have it that frequently! Nevertheless, I’m finding that since going full-time photographer/blogger, my camera and I have become siamese twins, joined at the hip (not complaining!) so I’m lucky that when we do have blue-sky days like this, I’m all set to capture them.

I spent yesterday’s afternoon strolling around one of my favourite corners of London – South Kensington. From Royal Albert Hall, to Imperial College and the V&A, this district is packed with the best museums, cafés and architecture. Exhibition Road, joining South Ken to Hyde Park, is the perfect location for a sunny brunch, with rows of restaurants spilling out onto the piazza. If you follow this predominantly pedestrianised street, you can take a leisurely walk up towards the park, heading past some of London’s most beautiful buildings. One of the best things about this little bit of the capital is that, unlike areas such as Soho and the City of London, it is never that over-crowded, so you can dot in and out of the streets as you please.

With that in mind, I spent the afternoon snapping away and planning my next blue-skied Saturday in London, which will probably look something like this:

1) Food: Getting the day started with brunch at the delicious Fernandez & Wells
2) Museum: Geeking up on fashion knowledge at the “Shoes: Pleasure & Pain” exhibition in the Victoria & Albert Museum
2) Relax: Strolling up to Hyde Park, enjoying a mini picnic of prosecco and fresh fruit, as the afternoon begins to darken (my favourite time of the day!!)
3) Music: Finishing the evening with a concert at the BBC Proms (I was recently treated to one of the most amazing Proms concerts by my best friend, Jo, what an experience!)
