Hotel Café Royal

London Lifestyle Blog

Christmas is around the corner and present shopping is on the mind. The streets are beginning to fill-up with frantic mums searching for stocking-fillers, style-savvy chicas hunting for the best buys and lost boyfriends looking for that perfect gift. Worn-out feet and rumbling tummies are the usual symptoms of a successful shop, but where to go to recharge the batteries? None other than the elegant and relaxing, Hotel Café Royal.

This 150 year old restaurant, turned 5* hotel in 2012, can be found right in the heart of Regent Street. It’s classic and opulent décor is the perfect setting to pop in and unwind. From a delicate London Royal Afternoon Tea to a grand grill in the Oscar Wilde Bar, there is something to tickle all taste-buds. I recently had the chance to sample their new and delicious evening Mediterranean menu, set in its atmospheric The Café. Picking from a range of various mediterranean-inspired mezze plates, we grazed on rich Spanish chorizo, light salmon and a variety of French cheeses. Our meal was accompanied with a delicious glass of Italian red and fresh baguette. What more can you ask for?

The evening was divine. I was particularly impressed by the friendliness and speed of service, and fell in love with the beautiful window displays – the delicate flecks of gold luring in passers-by… If you’re planning to brace the busy streets of London this Christmas, make sure you include a short stopover at Hotel Café Royal. The Mediterranean menu is served from 7pm every evening, perfect timing to break up those late-night shopping sprees. The beautifully festive decorations and quality food will leave you wanting to come back for more… Hhhmm if only there wasn’t that last present you had to go and buy!
