CHRISTMAS AFTERNOON TEA TOUR WITH BB BAKERY

It’s a rainy afternoon in London and you’re in the Christmas mood… what to do? Well, I found myself with just that dilemma a few weeks ago. I craved something fun and festive to do in the city, whilst keeping dry on these rainy days. I researched Christmas afternoon teas, and found a brilliant concept by french BB Bakery:
A Christmas afternoon tea bus tour of London – how fabulous!

Starting at Victoria Coach Station (and other locations), the big red bus takes you around all the sights of the city, whilst you sip leisurely on a glass of champers and nibble on the most delightful scones and cakes. The BB Bakery came up with this brilliant idea, following the need for a fun and creative way for people to enjoy their delicious bakes. Getting to see the best spots of London from the comfort of the cosy bus was the perfect setting for both local Londoners wanting to catch-up with friends, or tourists visiting the city for the very first time.

We began our tour with a generous glass of bubbly, to get the wheels on the bus rolling. You’re probably all wondering, how would we balance our cups of tea on a bumpy bus without spilling them? Well, the team was already prepared! We were all given a delightful takeaway ceramic mug with a cover to keep the tea warm and fashionably safe. A big lover of afternoon teas, I was exceptionally impressed by the spread. All the sandwiches and pastries are baked in their Covent Garden bakery fresh each morning, ready for the tour. From melt-in-your-mouth macarons, to petites quiches, the afternoon tea spread was nothing less than parfait!

Lasting about 1.5 hours, it was the perfect tour length. We had a fantastic guide pointing out all the notable sights, and topping up our teas whenever we needed. I particularly loved all the beautiful illustrations on the tables, cups, bus and bakery – all designed by French illustrator  Angéline Melin.
