WINTER WONDERFUL

Last week, my nan and cousin came down to visit London for the day, to spend a few girlie hours of Christmas shopping, cosy coffee stops and sight seeing. I had a few different ideas up my sleeve, the Forest Rooftop Café at Selfridges, Fortnum & Mason’s Christmas floor and ice skating at Somerset House. Our first stop, however, to really get into the festive mood had to be Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland.

Arriving early on a Monday morning, we stepped into an almost entirely empty park. I couldn’t believe it, a festive oasis in the heart of London which wasn’t overcrowded, #winning! We roamed the wonderland at our pleasure, nibbled on candy floss, had a ride on the carousel and even had a cheeky glass of mulled wine (it was after midday by then, promise!) Although most people will agree that Winter Wonderland is much bigger and packed with rides than it once was, it is still a magical little corner of London and a great place to throw you head first into Christmas cheer.

When I created the folder for these photographs, I accidentally titled it Winter Wonderful. No idea why, probably a random train of thought, but it actually turned out to be the perfect title for this post – because who would think that all the beautiful colours, lights and decorations were anything less wonderful?
