2015: Looking Back

Taking a step back and looking at what you have achieved in a year is one of the most fulfilling and inspiring things you can do for your new year to come. We live such fast-paced lives, particularly in a city like London, so it’s easy to keep running and forget how far you’ve come. This post is really important to me, as this August I decided to pursue my photography and blogging as a full-time career. I chose to take the leap of faith into the world of working for myself, and it’s now time to look back on what I’ve achieved.

2015 was a year that my photography truly blossomed. It allowed me to work with some of the nicest and most inspiring fashion bloggers both here in London and internationally, as well as develop my personal photography style. Photographing people is my biggest passion, and something I dreamed of doing as a profession for so long, so I’m infinitely grateful to be able to do this every day. What’s even better are the beautiful friendships I’ve created through my work, something I was worried I may not be able to do, working for myself. Below is a selection of my favourite blogger shoots from 2015 (Top to bottom: Martell Campbell, The Stylist and the Wardrobe, Vivara Fashion Blogger, Silk & Suits, What Sundays Are For, Idle Lane, The Fashion Bug, Juliet Angus, Anisa Sojka, Fashion Lollipop)

2015 was the year blogging became a part of my everyday and was the birth of Aurora Stories. I decided to rebrand my site and give it a new identity, taking a more lifestyle/travel focus to my blog. From brand launches to pop-up reviews I’ve had the chance to document some of the best experiences I’ve had this year, and look forward to continue doing so. For 2016, I’m aiming for even more lifestyle features, hopefully more travel and hotel collaborations – so watch this space! 2015 was a year of incredible travel, something I always make time for and something very close to my heart, having grown up abroad. The feeling of stepping out of a plane or even a train into new territory never gets old and is something I will continue to do for the rest of my life. My parents have always joked that I’m the one planning my next trip before the last one had even begun, and there are so many trips to come next year! 2015 gave me the chance to visit Amsterdam, Sicily (Catania, Syracuse), Edinburgh, Mykonos, Paris, Florence, Milan, Athens, Nafplio, Oxford and Dubai.

2015 was a year of change. Having spent half of the year working at the photo studio for Net-A-Porter.com, I was well immersed into the fashion world. I loved every minute of it, however, I knew that my destiny was to take my blog and photography to the next level and hopefully work for fashion brands directly. I have been lucky enough to photograph amazing projects for a number of different names throughout the year, as well as attend London, Milan and Paris fashion weeks. I only hope to build my brand portfolio and work on more amazing projects 2016.
