What better way to start off a Saturday than with a taste-packed brunch in the company of fabulous people? Last Saturday, I joined wonderful cook Hanna Goldsmith of Building Feasts to enjoy a Scandinavian-inspired brunch in celebration of kikki.K’s new delightful home-ware collection (I discovered kikki.K in Covent Garden last year, and it’s a gorgeous brand I can’t get enough of!)
We started our morning in the heart of Hanna’s beautiful home, her kitchen! Being the fabulous chef that she is, Hanna created three delicious dishes all Nordic-inspired. From baked oats with fresh berries, to the most amazing cardamon cake – it was all so tasty and yet so healthy too. We spent the morning sipping on fresh beetroot and orange juice out of kikki.K’s sweet glass carafes, as Hanna talked us through the nuances of Scandinavian cooking. My favourite dish had to be, of course, the salmon gravadlax. The simplicity of the recipe was such a surprise and something I am definitely going to try preparing myself when the weather starts to warm.
Of course, one of the biggest parts of putting on a feast is presentation, and this couldn’t have been prettier with kikki.K’s cute new homeware range. The gold embellish ceramic tea set is the perfect marriage of simple scandi style with a floral twist. And instead of pot, the tea cups sit on smooth wooden saucers, adding an earthy edge to the collection. I particularly loved their “There’s Always Time for Tea” cup, as it is something I would personally like to make more time for – a few minutes to myself with a cup of hot brew. Which reminds me, I fancy a cuppa right now, so I think I’ll go and put the kettle on 😉
