Fairytale Evening

It all started as the sun began to set over the city of London. I had been invited to an exclusive wedding showcase at the Banqueting House a few weeks earlier, a location I had heard was truly magnificent, but had never myself been inside. Not knowing what to expect, I got myself black-tie-ready with putting on a fiery red dress and made my way to Whitehall feeling rather glamourous.

Having heard about the excellence and grandeur of events organised by Table Talk and Blue Strawberry, I was 100% sure it would be a night to remember. I love any reason to get dolled up for a ball, so I was invited to the evening to get an idea of what incredible events the suppliers together could create. From stunning flower arrangements to elegant crockery sets, twinkling trees to delectable dining, it was a night to give us a real life fairytale.

As soon as we entered the Banqueting Hall, I felt my jaw-drop and my eyes widen – it was sensational. You walk up the stairs, not knowing what’s to come, only to find yourself in the heart of a hall with the most glorious fresco painting above, by none other than Sir Peter Paul Reuben. I couldn’t even begin to imagine all the incredible soirées that took place there over the years since the house’s creation in 1619. We were treated to drinks and canopés to begin the evening, before we took our seats on the tables. The centre pieces were truly magnificent and did look like something out of a fairytale, but in a tasteful manner. Each table was named after a princess, which was wonderfully fitting since the whole evening made you think of Cinderella and Snow White.

After finding our place cards on the table, dotting in between the Twilight Trees, it was time for our three course dinner. I couldn’t help but admire the charm of the elegantly written menus by Piccolo Press. I love it when every small detail comes together in unison to create a perfect night – it’s always the details that matter. The golden cutlery was right down my street, not for everyone, but I love anything ornate. We wined and dined, discussing the regal locations on the Historic Royal Palaces portfolio. From Kensington Palace to Hampton Court Palace, they provide you with a royal blank canvas to create the event of your dreams.

As the clock came closer to striking midnight, it was almost time for the night to draw to an end. You can’t finish a fairytale evening without a good old boogie though, right? So, I grabbed my ridiculously long red train and made my way to the dance floor. Thanks to the fabulous live band, who reminded me of a mix between The Script and Mumford & Sons, we had a wicked hour of non-stop tunes. Reluctantly, and with a glass of champers still in my hand, it was time to go home…Thank you to everyone who made this night truly spectacular and one I won’t be forgetting anytime soon!
