CHRISTMAS AT KEW

Christmas decorations are in full force all over London. It has to be one of my favourite times of the year; I love anything sparkly, anything colourful, pretty much anything that has to do with Christmas!! This month I’m planning to go ice skating at Winterville, get Christmas carolling in Canary Wharf and finish off my shopping at Covent Garden. There is so much to do and see in the city this time of year, and last week I ticked off something on my list for a long time, visiting the Christmas lights at Kew Gardens.

I travelled out to Kew for the press preview of their Christmas lights. I’d never been to the gardens before, so the whole trip was a bit of an adventure. I love discovering new parts of the city, particularly those outside the centre that are a little less crowded. I would of course love to see the gardens in the daylight, and I’ll hopefully plan a trip in the spring when all the blossom is out (amazing) but for now the magic and colours of Christmas was exactly what festive sparkle I needed to start off the holiday season.

Christmas at Kew is a trail taking you around the botanical gardens on a magical experience of fire, song and colour. The trail takes about an hour to complete, or longer if you stop for a cheeky mulled wine half way of course! Every few metres there is something different to experience, from a sea of fire to singing trees, you really are taken on a festive adventure. My favourite part had to be the sparkling tunnel, it just photographed so beautifully, and I wanted to stop and capture every smiling face walking through. Isn’t Christmas just so beautiful?
