AFTERNOON TEA AT ZABEEL SARAY
Those of you who follow me on Instagram will know that I managed to escape grey London for Christmas, and headed back home to Dubai. Each time I go back, Dubai has changed immensely; New buildings have popped up, new restaurants have opened – it’s almost as fast paced as London… almost!! I love trying out new spots whenever I’m there and in the build up to Christmas, I had my eye on the festive afternoon tea experience at Jumeirah’s Zabeel Saray.
Opulent, elegant and extravagant are the best three words to describe Zabeel Saray. Inspired by the palaces of the Ottoman empire, this is one of the most ornate hotels I’ve ever been to. And that’s why I love it so much, it offers something different to the usual 5* hotel (which we aren’t short of in Dubai). This creation by the Jumeirah Group takes you on a Turkish journey through rich colours, delicate patterns and plush interiors. Symmetry and intricacy are two huge themes in Middle Eastern architecture, and you can find this all over the Zabeel Saray making it so aesthetically striking.
I had the pleasure of experiencing their Christmas Afternoon Tea in the grand Sultan Lounge. Although it may not feel Christmassy to spend the festive season in the desert, this afternoon tea sure did. Each tier of the ornate cake stand was holiday inspired with sparkles and Christmas prints, and tasted just as good as it looked. It boasted such a large array of cakes that I actually forgot we still had the deliciously warm scones on the way. Tea was topped up as the Arabian sun set and we took in the true splendour of this British tradition with an elegant Middle Eastern twist.
Sitting by the window, enjoying this delightful experience in the comfort of my turquoise velvet throne truly felt like the life of royalty. The magnificence of the hotel is really what made the afternoon something special, and is the reason I will definitely be coming back. Thank you to the Jumeirah Group for this wonderful experience.
