Taking Statins? Here’s What You Need to Know

Statins, also called HMG-CoA Reductase Inhibitors, are a class of cholesterol-lowering agents that reduce mortality and disease in individuals who are at greater risk for cardiovascular disease. They are by far the most popular cholesterol-lowering agents. They have been around for many years and are considered to be extremely effective.

Statins work by altering how the body digests dietary fat

When fat is digested, it is converted into cholesterol. When cholesterol levels in the blood are too high, or in some cases when LDL (bad) cholesterol levels are too low, health problems result. Statins reduce the amount of cholesterol that gets to the arteries and reduces LDL cholesterol levels so that cholesterol doesn't build up in the arteries.

Statins are available over the counter in generic and brand name forms. There are several different kinds of statins and each has their own unique formula. The most common type of statins is LIPSTART. This drug contains two or three commonly used lipids, namely Lecithin and Triglycerides.

Statins can also be used in combination with other drugs to treat cholesterol problems. One type of combination statin is called an ARABICINE and it also combines LIPSTART with an ACE inhibitor. Another type of combination statin is the SEROTONIN AND CROSSING. SEROTONIN AND CROSSING are usually taken with an NRT or a nitrate supplement. These combination drugs have produced significant improvements in cholesterol levels in patients that were prescribed them.

Statins are also combined with certain vitamins. A group of five vitamins is known as Statins Medication Group B (SMG-B). These are Cholesterol-Regulating Diet Supplement, Cholesterol-Lowering Doses for Prevention of Heart Disease, Lipase, Cholesterol Combination (Cholesterols + Niacin), Lipoprotein Antioxidants (LPA), Lipoxygenase Inhibitor, L-Carnitine, L-Arginine, L-Glutamine, and Triacetone Orotate.

Statins can be used alone or with other drugs, but the results are usually not very good. If you take statins along with a statin drug, your chances of maintaining a healthy heart are much better than if you use only one of the drugs alone. Statins should be used with care because they can cause side effects such as low blood pressure, nausea, headaches, vomiting, fatigue, dizziness, weakness, and stomach cramps.

Statins have shown very good results on people who are overweight

However, people with a medical history of diabetes are at higher risk of complications from statins than people without this history. Statins can also cause liver failure in some people. This is a serious problem and you should talk to your doctor before starting any treatment.

The side effects of statins can be uncomfortable, but the majority of people do not experience any major problems with the use of statins. Statins are usually safe for long-term use.

People who have had heart disease or high blood pressure before are at a higher risk for stroke and heart attack, so any reduction in these risks can help to prevent these deadly diseases. People who have had a stroke or a heart attack have a greater chance of developing more serious ailments like cancer and kidney disease.

Statins have been found to help people with heart disease and high blood pressure control their symptoms, decrease the number of medications they need to take, and even lower their risk of a more serious disease. In some studies, statins were found to help people with heart disease by lowering their cholesterol level by 40%!

Statins are commonly prescribed for people with congestive heart failure. They help control symptoms associated with congestive heart failure by lowering the amount of calcium in the arteries that carry oxygenated blood to the heart. These drugs are used in combination with a high fiber diet and exercise to treat congestive heart failure. Patients should avoid taking any kind of high cholesterol drug, including aspirin, for more than three months at a time.

Statins are not a cure all for cholesterol and heart disease, but they can greatly reduce the risk of these serious conditions. If you are looking for an alternative to traditional treatment for these conditions, consider a statins treatment.
